There is something appealing to me about the black roof on a class 50! Really nice model.

Accurascale class 50 sound fitted.

This is a beautifully detailed model after I had refitted the front multiple working socket and the buffers I have also vastly improved the sound by removing the factory fitted speakers an supplemented for an esu passive radiator type as I have done on all my other Accurascale models which now all sound superb and loud. AAll in all the class 50 is a great model very powerful and smooth running, I'm so happy with it I bought another. Small tweak the sound would be good as it sets off just before the brake release and sometimes doesn't go through the engine shut down, the sound just stops.

Excellent class 50

This is an all-round excellent model that is certainly a step-up from previous ready-to-run models of this loco. The detail is great and it performs very well on DCC and the sound is impressive. The price is reasonable given the features. As with the class 37, I like the magnetic roof section giving access to the decoder and speakers - the panel is imperceptible when fitted. I also like the fan that appears to run realistically when the real engine would be hot. I also like the etched nameplates. The down sides are the very flimsy and fiddly fixings for the bogie chains which have to be pulled out when removing the body (easily broken) - the instructions do not help with this operation. This is a serious flaw; a magnetic attachment for the chains would have been a better solution. Some of the orange ETH boxes on the front ends had fallen off my model when it arrived and the fixing slots had to be filed out to make them fit back on. In addition, one of the buffers had fallen off, Inside the cab the detail is good but soldered connections on a PCB are visible which rather diminishes the overall effect. I like to fit the buffer beam detail and snip off the pipes so they don't interfere with the coupling. However, the instructions on where they should go confuse me - the colours on paper don't match the colours of the pipes provided. The history of the prototype provided is extensive and impressive but I think more help is needed with aspects of the model. In addition, it is not made clear that the DCC-ready version requires a specific decoder to work all of the lighting functions. Apart from that it's great!

Class 50 initial thoughts

When loco arrived some of the orange connectors on the ends had become detached but they were in the box and issue with the packaging maybe noticed these connectors were not painted but just bare orange plastic dosnt look good in my opinion the other slight issue was the air cylinder assembly under the engine didn't seem to be glued on strait so when you looked at it the supporters flush on the one sides didn't look like the were attached to the body again possibly caused by packaging pressing on the assembly apart from these issues an excellent model well detailed ran well strait from the box great sound plenty of functions good paint job the hall effect board for flange squeel is a bit intrusive in cab as the windows are very clear nothing that a bit of plastic card can't fix over all happy with loco hopefully these little niggles will be addressed with the second run
